One of the most important and widely attended scientific events in Europe in the field of Iranian studies, the European Conference of Iranian Studies (ECIS10) conference organized for the 10th time by Leiden University (Universiteit Leiden-Netherland) on August 21-25 this year and organized every four years, Muş Alparslan University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, History Department, Associate Prof. Dr. Muhammet Yücel participated with a paper titled “The Mārdbed’s Inscription: Discovery, Documentation and Historical Geography” regarding a new Middle Persian inscription discovered in Van-Muradiye. Studies on this newly discovered inscription were carried out by Assoc. Prof. Dr. It is conducted by Muhammet Yücel and related academics from Sapienza University (Sapienza Università di Roma) and Tel Aviv University in Israel. This conference, which was held with the participation of more than 400 academics in the field of Iranian studies, included discussions on the discovery, documentation, historical geography of the find site, translation and decipherment of the text of the inscription dated to the 4th century AD.
Our faculty member has also been involved in excavation activities as a Team Member in the Zernaki Tepe Ancient City 2023 Rescue Excavation Project in Aşağı Işıklı and Yukarı Işıklı Neighborhoods of Erciş district of Van province since March 2023.
