The Department of History at Muş Alparslan University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, organized a comprehensive orientation program for first-year students before the 2025–2026 fall semester. Held on October 8, 2025, the program aimed to help newcomers quickly adapt to university life by introducing the department’s academic structure, student rights, and campus facilities.
The event was coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Celal Öney (Program Coordinator), with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Alanoğlu (First-Year Advisor) and Research Assistant Muhammed Alparslan Yılmaz (Guide) assisting throughout the day.
The program began with presentations on the mission and vision of the History Department, emphasizing the academic significance and social relevance of historical studies. During the session titled “Introduction to the Profession of Historian,” students received detailed information about post-graduation employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors.
The department’s faculty members, curriculum, and course content were also introduced.
As part of the digital orientation, students were guided through the official university and faculty web portals, including:

They were further informed about essential academic topics such as the student automation system, academic calendar and examination process, Erasmus and Distance Education (UZEM) opportunities, event calendar, student rights, and responsible computer usage.
The program also included an awareness session on the prevention of harmful habits.
Under the guidance of Research Assistant Muhammed Alparslan Yılmaz, students later toured several key campus facilities, including the University Dining Hall, Library, Department of Student Affairs, KARGEM (Career Development Center), Sports Hall, and Student Clubs Center, where they learned about the functions and opportunities provided by each unit.
The event concluded with highly positive feedback from participants. The department emphasized that the orientation program successfully contributed to helping students integrate into academic and social life while familiarizing themselves with the university’s culture and resources.
