Educational Objectives of the History Department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Muş Alparslan University;
1. To provide students with historical knowledge at a level that will enable them to make objective evaluations.
2. To provide the ability to read documents used in historical research, understand and interpret the remains.
3. To provide students with the ability to make a comparative approach and analyze both Turkish and world history by teaching at least one foreign language and to have the ability to use information technologies effectively to access information,
4. To raise historians who have internalized ethical values with these achievements, who can make sense of current issues in Türkiye and the world, who can interpret events and facts from a historical perspective, and who can also enlighten their environment.
5. In addition to the history education provided within the framework of the basic objectives of Turkish Higher Education in the department curriculum, elective courses and joint elective courses from non-field universities provide the opportunity to receive education from different disciplines. Thus, it will be possible to train historians who can make objective evaluations, who have acquired scientific working methods and discipline with the gains they will obtain from different disciplines, who can produce solutions and follow new developments.
6. The curriculum of the department is planned to cover different areas of world history as well as Turkish history. For this purpose, in order for students to have a sufficient understanding of these areas, classical languages such as Arabic and Persian and modern languages such as English are given as elective courses in our department, in addition to Ottoman Turkish courses, throughout undergraduate and graduate education.
