History Department started education as formal and secondary education in 2010-2011 academic year under the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Muş Alparslan University. The department had its first graduates in the 2014-2015 academic year. As of 2015, only formal education is provided at the undergraduate level. As of the 2018-2019 spring semester, the graduate program has been opened and has started to accept students. There are seven active departments in the History Department: Ancient Age, Medieval, Modern, Modern, Ottoman Institutions and Civilization History, General Turkish History and Republic of Turkey. As of the 2020-2021 spring semester, our doctoral program has been opened in the Department of History of the Republic of Turkey and has started accepting students.
The mission of our department is to train competent and qualified individuals in the field, on the basis of a human-centered understanding of education and in line with national values and goals, to contribute to the sustainable social and human development of the region, and to work towards the solution of social problems on a regional basis.
The vision of our department is to be a pioneering department dedicated to educating individuals who are competent, qualified and with national values, which the region in particular and Turkey in general always needs, and to serve the development of the region with their research.
