First-year students of the Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Muş Alparslan University, visited the Career Development Center (KARGEM) under the guidance of Res. Asst. Ömer Gürdal. During the visit, KARGEM specialist Ruken Ekici Baba delivered a comprehensive briefing on Yetenek Kapısı (Talent Gate), Kariyer Kapısı (Career Gate), and the services offered by the center. Students received hands-on information on how to book career counseling, how one-to-one sessions are conducted, and how to navigate application processes. KARGEM’s mission is to enhance students’ and graduates’ career awareness, build bridges with the labor market, and improve employability through counseling and events.
In the Yetenek Kapısı segment, students learned that the national platform enables access to internship and job postings, participation in career fairs and university events, profile creation, and engagement with employers. The system is a nationwide career platform provided to universities by the Presidential Human Resources Office.
The second leg of the program was a visit to the İŞKUR Campus Office, guided by Career Counselor Elif Doğan Şahin. The session focused on CV preparation, internship opportunities, part-time jobs, and job-search skills. Students were also invited to receive individual career counseling on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the office. The İŞKUR Campus model aims to provide face-to-face guidance to university students, improve job-search competencies, accelerate the school-to-work transition, and make guidance services more accessible.
The department emphasized that such collaborative visits with KARGEM and the İŞKUR Campus Office help students transform career planning into concrete steps, offering practical answers to the question of “where do I start?” in networking, applications, and interviews.
