Undergraduate Program
The History Department started its education in the 2010-2011 academic year as formal and evening education, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Muş Alparslan University. The department graduated its first students in the 2014-2015 academic year. Since 2015, only formal education has been provided at the undergraduate level. The aims of the History Department are to teach modern historiography techniques in the world, to develop students' skills in using historical sources, and to present comprehensive approaches to historical problems, geographical areas, and periods. In addition, our department aims to sign cooperation agreements with other history departments at national and international levels. Our department continues its education with one professor, four associate professors, nine assistant professors, and four research assistants.
History Department Thesis Master's Program
Muş Alparslan University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of History, Thesis Master's Program was opened in 2018 under the leadership of Muş Alparslan University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of History, Thesis Master's Program.
Muş Alparslan University Institute of Social Sciences, History Department, has met the criteria determined by the Council of Higher Education and started postgraduate education in the 2019–2020 academic year. With the opening of the postgraduate program complementary to undergraduate education, both the academic studies of the faculty members have begun to be enriched and the department research assistants and candidates working in the field of History have found an important opportunity to improve themselves.
Nowadays, the lifelong learning approach has become a very important issue. As an extension of this idea, there are many people who want to improve their professional and academic knowledge by doing a master's degree at Muş Alparslan University. The opening of this program has been a good opportunity for those who want to improve themselves and be informed about the developments in the field of History.
Students who receive a diploma from the graduate program will contribute to meeting the department's need for faculty members and will have the opportunity to work in all kinds of public institutions, private sector organizations and non-governmental organizations.
Project implementations of the courses to be given in postgraduate education can be realized by organizing public panels, conferences and seminars in order to increase city-university cooperation, which is one of the important functions of universities.
The postgraduate education program has begun to make significant contributions to individuals' work in different sectors and to becoming better citizens in terms of acquiring professional and transversal skills expressed within the framework of Higher Education Programs Qualifications.
The postgraduate education program will strengthen the individual development of the faculty members working in the program and will make a significant contribution, especially in terms of paving the way for their self-development and renewal.
Another important goal of postgraduate education is to provide both faculty members and students with the opportunity to globalize, which is one of the most important goals of Higher Education. At this point, by ensuring that foreign students enroll in the program, support will be provided to achieve this goal.
PhD Program in the Department of History of the Republic of Turkey
Muş Alparslan University Institute of Social Sciences, Department of History of the Republic of Turkey PhD Program, was opened in 2021 under the direction of Muş Alparslan University Institute of Social Sciences and started accepting students as of the 2021-2022 Fall Semester.
Since the criteria determined by the Council of Higher Education have been met in the History Department of the Institute of Social Sciences at Muş Alparslan University, PhD education has started in the History Department of the Republic of Turkey as of the 2021–2022 academic year. The opening of a PhD program that is complementary to the master's degree and aims to provide qualifications for the doctoral degree in specific subjects in this field will both enrich the academic studies of the faculty members and provide an important opportunity for the development of the department's research assistants and candidates working in the field of History.
